For the first time, Beau met someone he didn't like this morning. It was a tree-cutter who hangs around our neighborhood. I've never seen Beau react that way to anyone before. He's always so friendly to everyone. He went up to this guy when he put out his hand to pet him, quickly withdrew, and then gave him a very wide berth, whining like a frightened puppy. His unusual reaction really gave me cause to wonder about that man. He had wild eyes, too. He even jokingly referred to himself as a "wild animal." Who would refer to himself as a wild animal, unless he is one? Spooky. He also told me one client's "mean" pit bull pees (submissively) whenever he comes around. If a dog reacts like that to a person, there has to be good reason. Dogs are expert character detectors, so when a dog reacts to someone that way, I must assume the person has none. I trust Beau's judgment, so we won't ask that man to do any work around our house.
