FRED BASSET TURNS 50

Fred Basset, the beloved English comic strip, was always one of my favorites.  Fred has been entertaining folks with his uniquely basset-y antics for 50 years.  I first became familiar with this hilarious hound on my first trip to England in 1977 and bought a book of the cartoons at Victoria Station to read on the train.  I immediately fell in love with the comic.  Fred's creator had the basset personality down pat.  Our first basset, Butterscotch, always reminded me of Fred.
